Outdoor Recreation

Hawaii Island (also known as the Big Island) has a 266-mile coast line, offering a variety of beaches, hikes, and other outdoor activities. There are numerous places to surf, jet ski, kayak, parasail, scuba dive, snorkel, windsurf, swim,  fish, hike, and even snowboard. A short drive away on the northwest side of the island is Hapuna Beach along the Kohala coast, which is the top-rated beach in America.

Golf

Golf

West Hawaii hosts several golf courses for players of all levels. From the world-renowned Hualalai to the down-the-street, affordable Makalie with breath-taking views, there's a course for you to enjoy the game — paradise-style any time of the year! Other notable courses include Sea Mountain, Waikoloa Village, Hapuna, and Mauna Lani.

Lava Flows

Check out the red lava flows on the south side of the island at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Other attractions at the park include large craters and steam vents. Hawaii Island, the youngest of the island chain, is still growing (you can watch the lava flowing into the ocean, creating large steam plumes seen for miles).
